Product Description
Product Introduction
Copper sulfate (CuSO4), with the chemical formula CuSO4 (anhydrous) or CuSO4.5H2O (pentahydrate), has a CAS number of 7758-99-8 and is commonly known as blue vitriol or gall vitriol (pentahydrate). Anhydrous copper sulfate is a white or off-white powder that absorbs moisture to form a blue pentahydrate. Copper sulfate pentahydrate is a blue crystalline powder or block crystal. It is odorless and astringent, highly water-soluble, and its aqueous solution appears blue. This product, primarily industrial-grade copper sulfate pentahydrate, has a purity of ≥98% and a low impurity content. It possesses multiple functions, including sterilization, catalysis, and coloring. It is widely used in agriculture, chemical industry, electroplating, and pharmaceutical excipients, and is easy to store and use.

Product Usage
Agriculture: As a broad-spectrum fungicide and trace element fertilizer, it is used to prevent and control fungal diseases of crops (such as rice sheath blight, fruit tree downy mildew, and vegetable powdery mildew) by inhibiting the germination of fungal spores. It can also supplement copper in crops to prevent "white ear disease" caused by copper deficiency in wheat and "top dieback" caused by copper deficiency in fruit trees. It is suitable for a variety of crops, including rice, wheat, fruit trees, and vegetables.

Water treatment industry: As a water purifier and algae inhibitor, it is used in industrial circulating water, swimming pool water, and landscape water treatment. It can kill algae and bacteria in the water, prevent pipe blockage and green water quality; at the same time, it can react with sulfides in the water to form copper sulfide precipitation, remove harmful sulfides in the water, and improve water quality.

Other fields: used as chemical reagents in laboratories (such as testing the presence of water and catalyzing organic reactions); used as mordants in the printing and dyeing industry to enhance the bonding strength between dyes and fabrics; used for wood preservative treatment in wood processing to prevent wood from mildew and insect infestation.
Shipping methods
Packaging: Double-layer packaging is used, with an inner polyethylene film bag and an outer polypropylene woven bag or composite paper bag. Standard sizes are 25kg/bag and 50kg/bag. For high-purity requirements, sealed polyethylene drums (200kg/drum) are available. The outside of the packaging is marked with the product name, CAS number, specifications, net weight, manufacturer, and the "moisture-proof, keep out of reach of children" logo.
Transportation method: It is non-dangerous goods (but attention should be paid to its toxicity to aquatic organisms) and can be transported by road, rail, or sea. For road transportation, ordinary trucks are used, for rail transportation, boxcars are used, and for sea transportation, containers are used (moisture-proof measures must be taken to prevent leakage and water pollution caused by damaged packaging). Air transportation must comply with aviation transportation packaging specifications (small amounts of reagent-grade can be transported by air).
Transportation precautions: During transportation, the packaging must be protected from damage, rain, and direct sunlight to prevent moisture absorption, agglomeration, or dissolution. The product must not be mixed with food, feed, or seeds to prevent cross-contamination. Handle with care during loading and unloading to prevent powder from flying and irritating the skin and respiratory tract. The transport vehicle must be clean and dry, and any residue in the vehicle must be cleaned promptly after transportation.
Storage requirements
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse away from water sources, heat sources and direct sunlight. The warehouse temperature should be controlled at 5-30°C and the relative humidity should be ≤70%. Avoid storing with alkaline substances (such as sodium hydroxide, ammonia water) and reducing substances (such as iron powder, zinc powder) to prevent chemical reactions.
Products must be stored sealed. Any unused product after opening should be immediately tied up or covered tightly to prevent moisture absorption and clumping. When stacking, keep the distance from the wall at least 10cm and the ground at least 15cm, with the stack height not exceeding 6 layers, to prevent the bottom packaging from being damaged by pressure. Products from different batches should be stored separately, with batch identification and adherence to the "first in, first out" principle.
During storage, check once every quarter to see if the packaging is sealed and whether the product has absorbed moisture, agglomerated, or discolored (black spots may indicate contamination). If slight agglomeration is found, it can be crushed and used normally. If severe agglomeration or discoloration occurs, the purity and impurity content must be tested and only used after passing the test.

FAQ
1. How to distinguish anhydrous copper sulfate from copper sulfate pentahydrate? Can they be converted into each other?
A: How to distinguish: 1. Appearance: Anhydrous copper sulfate is a white powder, while copper sulfate pentahydrate is a blue crystal. 2. Reaction with water: Anhydrous copper sulfate quickly turns blue when exposed to water, while copper sulfate pentahydrate dissolves in water to form a blue solution. Mutual conversion: Copper sulfate pentahydrate loses its crystal water when heated at 110-250°C, converting to anhydrous copper sulfate. Anhydrous copper sulfate, when placed in a humid environment, absorbs moisture from the air and converts to copper sulfate pentahydrate (which can be used to test ambient humidity).
2. How can we prevent copper sulfate from harming crops when used in agriculture?
A: There are three things to keep in mind: 1. Control the concentration: When spraying on leaves, the concentration is generally 0.2%-0.5% (copper sulfate pentahydrate) to avoid excessive concentrations that may burn the leaves; 2. Choose the right time: Avoid spraying during the seedling and flowering stages of crops, as seedlings and flowers are more sensitive to copper ions; 3. Reasonable combination: It can be mixed with lime to form "Bordeaux mixture" (copper sulfate + lime milk), which reduces irritation to crops while enhancing the fungicidal effect. It is suitable for use on fruit trees, vegetables, and other crops.
3. What should I do if my skin or eyes become irritated after coming into contact with copper sulfate?
A: Skin contact: Immediately remove contaminated clothing and rinse the contact area with plenty of running water for 10-15 minutes. If redness, swelling, or itching occurs, apply a weak alkaline solution (such as soapy water) to neutralize the condition. If symptoms are severe, seek medical attention immediately. Eye contact: Immediately open the eyelids and rinse with saline or running water for 15 minutes, avoiding rubbing. Seek medical attention immediately. Ingestion: Immediately drink plenty of milk or egg white (to protect the gastric mucosa). Do not induce vomiting and seek medical attention immediately.
4. Why is copper sulfate solution blue? Can it be used for water quality testing?
A: Copper sulfate solution appears blue because Cu² combines with water molecules to form the [Cu(H2O)4]²4 complex. This complex absorbs orange-red light and reflects blue light under visible light, giving the solution a blue appearance. It can be used for water quality testing: 1. Testing for the presence of water: Anhydrous copper sulfate, a white powder, turns blue when exposed to water, allowing a quick determination of the presence of water in organic solvents such as ethanol and eth er. 2. Detecting sulfides in water: Copper sulfate solution reacts with sulfides to form a black copper sulfide precipitate, which can be used to qualitatively determine the sulfide content in water.
